Abdo al Najjar & Family

Urgent: Help Abdo and Souad’s Family Escape Gaza & Get Medical Care for Zaid

Abdo and Souad are the devoted parents of three beautiful children—Muhammad, Aya, and little Zaid. Their family, like so many others in Gaza, has endured unimaginable hardship and loss since October 2023.

Displaced by relentless airstrikes, they were forced to flee their home in Khan Yunis, losing everything in the process. Now, they are living in a tent in Khan Yunis, struggling to survive under a very fragile ceasefire. While the bombing has stopped for now, no aid is being allowed in, which means food, medicine, and basic necessities are nearly impossible to afford as prices continue to skyrocket.

Zaid Desperately Needs Medical Treatment—The Only Option is to Leave Gaza

At just 2 and a half years old, Zaid has a severe nerve condition that prevents him from walking. He has never taken a single step. His recent MRI results indicate a dysmyelinating disorder, which affects the protective covering of his nerves and significantly impairs his movement.

Without urgent medical intervention from a neurologist outside of Gaza, Zaid’s condition could worsen, making it even harder for him to ever gain mobility. But under siege conditions, hospitals are overwhelmed, specialists are unavailable, and leaving Gaza is nearly impossible without financial support.

My Involvement: Why I (Georgia) Am Fundraising for This Family

There are so many families in Gaza going through unimaginable hardship, but Abdo and Souad’s family holds an especially deep place in my heart.

Since connecting with them even before All Our Relations began, we have formed a truly special bond. I have been in constant contact with them, and they have become like family to me. Every single one of them—Abdo, Souad, Muhammad, Aya, and little Zaid, and also Abdo’s wonderful parents —are so important to me. They are not just names on a fundraiser; they are real people I care deeply about, and I cannot express how much it means to me to be able to support them through this.

I have spoken with them through their hardest moments, through fear, hunger, exhaustion, and grief—but I have also seen their incredible strength, their love for each other, and their hope even in the face of so much suffering. This is personal for me. This family is so loved, and they deserve to be safe.

But the truth is, they need so much more than I alone can give.

They need safety. They need a home. They need Zaid to get the medical care he desperately requires.
