Tamer and family

My name is Tamer, and I am from Gaza. Like many young people, I once had dreams, ambitions, and plans for the future. I worked hard, studied, and hoped to build a life where I could support my family and live with dignity.

My graduation day was meant to be 6 October 2023 — a moment I had waited for and dreamed about. Instead, just one day later, everything changed. The war began, and with it, the life I knew disappeared.

Our home was destroyed, along with everything we owned and every memory we cherished. What was once a place of safety and belonging became a place of loss and uncertainty. Today, my family and I have no permanent place to live. We move between temporary shelters and tents that do not protect us from extreme heat or cold. Every day is a struggle to find safety, food, and clean water.

Family Situation

I live with my family of 15 people, and every day we struggle to survive under conditions that are almost impossible to describe. We have lost our home, our stability, and our sense of safety. There is no longer a provider for our family, and we are left without even the most basic necessities of life.
